There are many benefits to smashing light bulbs rather than disposing of them in individual boxes. Two key advantages are the time that it saves packaging the old bulbs and then the subsequent disposal cost of the spent bulbs. There is however an alternative to manually packing all of these bulbs. The light bulb smasher is a compact crushing unit which mounts to a 55 gallon drum and quickly smashes light bulbs into thousands of tiny glass pieces.
The light bulb smasher provides a safe work environment in addition to reducing man hours worked. The operation is simple and the equipment is inherently easy to operate. Simply turn on the unit, then feed the light bulbs into the tube which is located on the top of the smasher. |
Light Bulb Smasher FeaturesBelow are some of the basic features of the crusher. There are two models, premium and standard which offer different features based on your application and budget.
The Bulb Smasher Filtration SystemBoth the premium and the standard crushers contain a dust filter system which is mounted to the unit (shown in blue in the above picture). This HEPA filtration system works in combination with a carbon activated filter which is in the canister. The carbon them captures the harmful mercury vapor which is released once the bulb is broke. The filtration system is one of the most critical components of the equipment. Without this feature, the vapor would simply be released into the atmosphere which is not ideal for the workers, the environment, or local and federal regulations. |
